The short version: we collect what you send us, we use it to reply and to do the work, and we never sell it.
Who we are
The Stargazing Company ("we", "us") is an e-commerce marketing agency based in Melbourne, Victoria. This policy explains how we handle personal information, in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What we collect
- When you contact us: your name, email, business name, your message and, if you choose to share it, your phone number.
- When you work with us: contact and billing details, and access to the business accounts you choose to share with us, such as your store, ad accounts or email platform.
- When you visit this site: Google Analytics records how the site is used, for example pages viewed, device type, approximate location and how you found us. It uses cookies. We don't use it to identify you.
- Your light or dark choice is saved in your own browser only. It is never sent to us.
- The weather in the header is loaded by your browser from Open-Meteo, a weather service. They receive your IP address with the request.
How we use it
- To reply to your enquiry.
- To deliver the work we agree on, and to invoice for it.
- To understand how the site is used and improve it.
- To meet our legal and tax obligations.
We only send you marketing emails if you ask for them, and every email has an unsubscribe link.
Who we share it with
We don't sell or rent personal information.
We work with a small network of specialist partners, for example in paid media, design, photography and fulfilment. If you become a client, we share only what a partner needs to do their part of your project, under confidentiality.
We also use trusted service providers to run the business, including website hosting (SiteGround), analytics and email (Google). The live Melbourne weather in our site header comes from Open-Meteo: your browser asks their service for it directly, so they can see your IP address, but no other details. They handle data on our behalf, under their own privacy and security terms.
Storage outside Australia
Some of these providers store data on servers outside Australia, for example in the United States or Europe. We choose providers that protect personal information to a standard similar to the Australian Privacy Principles.
How we keep it safe
Form enquiries are stored in our website database and our business inbox. Access is limited to the people who need it. If an enquiry doesn't turn into work, we delete it within 24 months. Client records are kept for as long as the law requires, then deleted.
Cookies
This site uses Google Analytics cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. The site still works without them.
Your choices
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. Email us and we'll reply within 30 days.

Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
